Congestive Heart Disease

January 26th, 2010

A simple heart disease may lead to complication such as a congestive  heart disease. It is brought about when the heart is no longer pumping  the desired amount of blood into the body. Experts also associate  rheumatic fever, when untreated, could most likely lead to a congestive heart  disease.

Some of the symptoms of congestive heart disease would include edema, shortness of breath, kidney problems, and an unexplainable weight gain. Doctors also point increased in blood pressure and abusive intake of  alcohol as potential causes of congestive heart disease. Often, these  symptoms would then cause the heart to work efficiently and often would  lead to further complications that are not just related to heart disease.

It would be easy to determine if a person is suffering from a  congestive heart disease. Those who have had history of any form of heart  disease, even those who have family members suffering from the same disease, and those who are alcoholics are prone to congestive heart disease. When diagnosed with such failure, the patient must then be able to submit  to an operation suggested by the attending doctor. Or this could simply  be addressed through treatment. Part of the treatment is to embrace a  healthy lifestyle that would include eating the right food diet and engaging in a regular physical activity like any form of exercise. Diet is  very much needed in fighting against congestive heart disease since a  person suffering from this must lessen one’s intake of salt and limit  water intake.

All in all, a comprehensive treatment could very well treat congestive  heart disease. This would include diet, healthy physical activities, medication, and recommended operation. There are some effective  treatments for this particular disease. Drugs such as Angiotensin which are  designed to convert enzyme inhibitors are responsible for expanding the  blood vessels and allowing for a freer flow of blood. These drugs are  proven to prevent any case of blood blockage or congestion. Another drug for congestive heart disease is the beta blockers which are responsible  in improving the ventricle pumps in the heart. It is best to take Digitalis to increase the heart pumping and diuretics to get rid of unwanted water and salt inside a person’s body.

This type of disease could come from a wide array of causes and conditions that makes it varied in terms of getting the right treatment. Some  cases would require one to simply focus on one treatment, while some would be required t undergo some operation or major surgery. While some  patients suffering from congestive heart disease are having a normal  lifestyle, some are required to take a lot of rest or undergo a major  heart transplant operation.

Heart Disease Surgery

January 18th, 2010

Not all cases of heart disease would require a heart disease surgery. There are some stages of this disease which would only need a change of  lifestyle, or a strict medication without having to undergo a surgery. Some are simply advised to stop smoking, drinking alcohol, and eating  too much salty food. Exercise is also part f the things that should be  done by a person who is diagnosed to have a heart disease. Patients are  also told to stay away fom stressful activities and rather do some  relaxing activities. By following these activities and lifestyle change, one may need not undergo a surgery anymore.

But for cases that are no longer handled by simple medication or  lifestyle change, a heart surgery is often the best recourse. For people who  no longer respond and feel cured by the medication given out by the  doctor, it would then be very timely to set for a heart surgery in order  to avoid further problems. Experts suggest for a surgery to prevent any worst scenario that may possibly happen due to the worsened condition of  the patient. There is also an instance that doctors would call for a  repeat heart disease surgery especially on cases that would require for  the liquid in the chest to be taken away. Anybody who suffers heart  disease must always consider that there is a very big possibility for them  to undergo a heart disease surgery if preventive measures are not applied responsibly.

One of the popular and most preferred heart disease surgery is the less  invasive type. This kind of surgery would only have small incisions  and would inflict less pain to the patient undergoing the surgery. Also, this would ensure the patient that less time is needed for him to recover. For these reasons, it is no doubt that more patients are going for this type of heart disease surgery.

The less invasive surgery would no longer need to open the chest. Instead, small incisions will do the job and that would get rid of the use  of heart lung machine.  It will simply get vessel grafts in the arms and  legs through the use of the said small cuts and incisions. Another  added benefit of the less invasive surgery is its lowering of the health  risks that may complicate the disease into all kinds of other disease  after undergoing such procedure. These are very promising advancements in  the field of heart disease surgery.

Heart Disease Statistics

January 10th, 2010

Heart disease statistics claimed that there are about 24.7 million  Americans have had problems with heart disease. This heart disease  statistics would definitely alarm the public and should make everyone be aware  about heart disease and how can it be prevented. Such number would  constitute almost twelve percent of the total American adult population.

But no matter how alarming the heart disease statistics would give the  people, this shouldn’t be a reason for anyone to believe that there is  no treatment for heart disease. In fact, experts kept on reminding the  public that if only such disease was given the right treatment and  dealt with seriously, the person wouldn’t have to suffer that much and die  because of such disease.

As published by the Center for Disease Control, it claimed that heart  disease is considered the major reason of death in the United States. Along with its heart disease statistics released, the heart disease  referred to was not just limited to one type of heart disease but all the  type of problems in the heart.

Another source of heart disease statistics would be the National Vital  Statistics Report. It released a study that claimed majority of deaths  in 2004 was brought about by the thickening of arteries and the failure  of the heart to function properly. This study has pushed more  researchers to conduct and study more on the nature and treatments of heart  disease as this would be instrumental in addressing heart disease.

One can also find so many relevant information related to heart disease  statistics from the American Heart Association. Such organization, through the conduct of their study, believed that about five million of the  Americans are  threatened and may be suffereing from a heart failure. This is also supported by the data that showed that some 5,000  Americans have been diagnosed with this disease yearly.

With all these heart disease statistics, one might get depressed and  frustrated about the growing number of victims of this disease. This is  further supported by the statistics that showed that about 66 percent of  the American population are getting overweight. Of the many risk  factors of heart disease, overweight or obesity is one major risk factor  that should be strictly avoided. Thus, experts suggest that people who are  prone to this disease must consult a doctor to know on what is the  balanced diet that is intended for the person. This way, one is assured  that he is living healthily.

Heart Disease in Women

January 1st, 2010

Studies showed that heart disease in women has been one of the leading  cause of deaths and thus gives women an idea that they should be very  careful in avoiding heart disease and its development in order to live  longer by using all means to prevent it or have it cured as soon as  possible.

It is best to have an executive check-up to discover any possible  disease earlier. This is made possible by the presence of latest equipment  and technology that could easily determine if one acquires such disease . It is believed that heart disease in women must be discovered earlier  since most of the failed cases are the ones that have been recognized  late. Most of the case that are no longer that treatable are the ones  that have been discovered very late and on an advanced stage already, not  anymore curable by available means. Such case is often a result of a  heart attack or stroke.

Some of the factors that might trigger and develop heart disease in  women are when she smokes, she increases her cholesterol level and blood  pressure. The woman is also very prone to acquiring a heart disease if  she doesn’t exercise regularly and if she has developed an early stage  of diabetes or is becoming obese.

It is believed that most of the failed cases are those who did not mind  the such risk factors and did something about them. Doctors suggest  that upon knowing these risk factors, the person is expected to change  for a better lifestyle. They believed that the chance of getting the  disease can still be prevented if proper precautions are practiced and  applied by the women.

Other factors that could affect heart disease in women are age and  menopause. These are but some of he incontrollable factors that may lead to  heart disease. But women must not worry as they age especially when they have been doing something about such information in order to avoid developing heart disease.

There are just so many techniques to reduce the risk of heart disease  in women. One way is by taking in vitamins that are prescribed by a  medical doctor. Some medical practitioners would recommend over the counter  drugs such as Sytrinol. Doctors claimed that such is an effective way of maintaining a low level of cholesterol. Sytrinol is found to be  responsible in reducing triglycerides and makes sure that low-density lipoprotein is maintained at a low and tolerable level.

Women are also advised to use M.S.M. because it can contribute the  development of protein in women and allows for the strengthening of  connective tissues. But women are also advise to first seek the advise of a  medical specialist before taking in any of these medicines or treatment.

Congenital Heart Disease

December 25th, 2009

Congenital heart disease is one type that is classified as hereditary  and acquired by birth. This would be a clear proof that not all types of  heart disease are brought about by external factors like smoking, drinking, drug problems, and more. Although these external factors are most  likely responsible bearers of the disease, these are not simply the  main reasons for the disease to crop up.

It is best to be familiar on the different types of heart diseases such  as the congenital heart disease. This type of disease is often  discovered the moment the baby is given birth and that some clear symptoms are  found in the baby. If diagnosed with congenital heart disease, the  baby is then subjected for an operation as the situation could harm or worsen if not addressed as soon as possible.

Medical experts are encouraging early detection of congenital heart  disease as they believe that immediate treatment and operation could still  normalize the condition of the child. When discovered later, there is  a big possibility that an operation would no longer be helpful and that  the person will just have to suffer more with this disease. The damage  brought by a long period of time could hardly be treated.

However, what is not known to all is the fact that congenital heart  disease may be self-treated in such a way that in the case of a hole in the valve could actually cope on its own over time. But this fact still  does not get rid of the seriousness of the situation. People suffering  from this disease must be treated immediately and attend regular check-up to determine how to go about such disease. Major operation is still considered the ultimate solution to this disease.

Having a child with congenital heart disease is one serious matter. However, this must be addressed positively as this disease is very much treatable except in cases that mean such an extreme defect that even a major surgery can’t help it. A heart surgery may be very complicated and  risky on the part of the patient and his family who will be carrying the burden of fear and uneasiness. But it must be considered as a disease  that is very much hopeful when treated and handled by medical experts. Acquiring such a disease must not mean the end of one’s world. Instead, it must be seen as a challenge to immediately seek medical help.

Heart Disease Prevention

December 13th, 2009

Since diabetes has always been associated with heart disease, doctors  suggest some heart disease preventions by first correcting the problem  on diabetes. Studies showed that most of the people who died because of  heart disease all have history of diabetes. This has pushed the experts  to first counter heart disease prevention by hitting on the the possible catalyst of this disease—it is diabetes.

A part f heart disease prevention is changing one’s lifestyle. Since it  would then be too hard to control some other factors of heart disease  like age, gender, and genetics, it won’t be too hard to correct one’s  lifestyle. This is often started by eating only the healthy and balanced food.

Another heart disease prevention is by controlling one’s weight. Becoming obese would bring the person so much exposure to acquire heart  disease. As suggested by the American Heart Association, people should be  conscious on the nutrient level of food taken in. The association pushed  for a balanced diet like taking in fruits, vegetables, and whole  grains. By eating healthily, a person may lose all the risky factors that may trigger heart disease.

But it is observed that one may be very successful with their heart  disease prevention techniques if they strictly apply a comprehensive  prevention program such as mixing both diet, weight loss, and maintaining a good level of blood sugar. People are even advised to take in dietary supplements which are believed to be a helpful factor in the whole heart disease prevention program. Dietary supplements are recommended by experts since they contain antioxidants as well as folic acid and vitamin B.

Experts suggest that people undergoing some heart disease prevention must take in Mangosteen puree since this has been found to have lots of  antioxidants. Unlike mango and other fruit puree, mangosteen is very much rich in Vitamin B and folic acid. These elements are responsible in keeping the homocysteine low. Experiencing a rise on homocysteine would definitely result to an arteriosclerotic disease.

One of the best ways of keeping a tolerable blood pressure and LDL  cholesterol level is by adapting a new and healthier diet. This would only have to be followed strictly by the person involved and must be dealt with all discipline and patience.

One is then advised to take a mix of heart disease prevention techniques like keeping a good level of cholesterol and blood pressure, maintaining a healthy lifestyle, eating a balanced diet, and applying all these with all discipline.

Heart Disease Research

November 28th, 2009

Since heart disease is one serious and very relevant issue as it has  involved so many people in the world, so does the need to develop and  improve heart disease research every now and then. People behind heart  disease research are expected to seriously study and look for potential  cures and treatments for this disease. Since this is one important sector  in the medical field, more and more companies are investing their  money to develop new solutions and treatments for heart disease.

The Research Center for Stroke and Heart Disease is an organization that has been known to be very active in raising awareness of the people  about stroke prevention and heart disease. As a heart disease research  company, its major role is developing techniques on how to better tell  people on how to adopt practices that are helpful to reduce the risk of  heart disease.

The said company is filled with experts in the field of health care management, communications, and computer programming. All these years, since it was first opened to serve the public, the Research Center for  Stroke and Heart Disease has preserved its name and integrity worldwide. It has been known to be one of the respectable heart disease research  institutions.

The British heart Foundation is another organization that has also made  a name in the heart disease research. This organization focuses on  three roles which include investing on research, taking care of heart patients, and informing the public on how to deal and handle cases of heart disease.

Another heart disease research center is the Harvard Medical School  which has allotted much of its personnel, faculty, and attention in  conducting heart disease research. The Harvard Medical School is known to  have been giving relevant and most efficient information about heart  disease development. You can also find the best findings and statistics from this institute.

As the heart disease cases are also growing in number, the number of   heart disease research organizations has also grown and have become more  active and vigilant in finding the best cure or treatment for such disease. These organizations are regarded as the hope on how to deal and cure heart disease better than what has been done today. These companies  have one common goal and that is to how one could completely avoid  getting problems with the heart and suffer heart failure. People also  appreciate the works done by these institutions as they have been providing  new developments in the field of heart disease.

Heart Disease and Stroke

November 16th, 2009

Heart disease and stroke are two of the most common causes of death in  any part of the world. Medical experts have not yet successfully  discovered hundred percent efficient ways for a person to protect himself  from getting heart disease and stroke, but there are certain factors that  you could avoid in order not to acquire these situations.

One of the risk factors is the age. The more the person increases his  age, the more likely he will suffer from heart disease and stroke. This  holds especially true to women because the more they get older, the  more prone they get to have heart disease and stroke. Studies also showed  that gender is a big risk factor for such as they claimed that more are  more prone to heart disease and stroke as compared to women. Another risk factor is family history that would have to trace the kinds of diseases suffered by the different family members. If you have relatives  having any history of heart disease would mean that there is also a big  chance for you to develop such disease.

It is also found that more black women have developed and suffered  heart disease and stroke as compared to white women. Also, African-American women are more likely to die because of this disease rather than Caucasian women.

If these are the risk factors that can hardly be prevented or controlled, there are also factors that can be modified. One of the risk factor  of heart disease and stroke is smoking which can be prevented. If you wish to avoid any circumstance of this disease, it would be best for you to quit or avoid cigarette smoking.

Another risk factor that can be controlled is high blood cholesterol. This can easily be controlled by maintaining and living a healthy lifestyle. This would require you to eat balanced and healthy meal as well as doing a regular exercise. But what is the heaviest risk factor of  heart disease and stroke is high blood pressure. Although this may be a  serious threat, however, experts said that this can still be controlled  and managed well with discipline and patience. Anyone should get rid or  cut off the amount of sodium in his diet as well as drinking hard liquor  in moderation. Too much of such would be very dangerous and risky to  one’s health. Studies claimed that alcohol is one major reason why one’s  blood pressure would rise up.

These are but some of the important ways to counter and protect oneself  from the controllable and preventable risk factors of heart disease and stroke.
