Congenital Heart Disease

Friday, December 25th, 2009

Congenital heart disease is one type that is classified as hereditary  and acquired by birth. This would be a clear proof that not all types of  heart disease are brought about by external factors like smoking, drinking, drug problems, and more. Although these external factors are most  likely responsible bearers of the disease, these are not simply the  main reasons for the disease to crop up.

It is best to be familiar on the different types of heart diseases such  as the congenital heart disease. This type of disease is often  discovered the moment the baby is given birth and that some clear symptoms are  found in the baby. If diagnosed with congenital heart disease, the  baby is then subjected for an operation as the situation could harm or worsen if not addressed as soon as possible.

Medical experts are encouraging early detection of congenital heart  disease as they believe that immediate treatment and operation could still  normalize the condition of the child. When discovered later, there is  a big possibility that an operation would no longer be helpful and that  the person will just have to suffer more with this disease. The damage  brought by a long period of time could hardly be treated.

However, what is not known to all is the fact that congenital heart  disease may be self-treated in such a way that in the case of a hole in the valve could actually cope on its own over time. But this fact still  does not get rid of the seriousness of the situation. People suffering  from this disease must be treated immediately and attend regular check-up to determine how to go about such disease. Major operation is still considered the ultimate solution to this disease.

Having a child with congenital heart disease is one serious matter. However, this must be addressed positively as this disease is very much treatable except in cases that mean such an extreme defect that even a major surgery can’t help it. A heart surgery may be very complicated and  risky on the part of the patient and his family who will be carrying the burden of fear and uneasiness. But it must be considered as a disease  that is very much hopeful when treated and handled by medical experts. Acquiring such a disease must not mean the end of one’s world. Instead, it must be seen as a challenge to immediately seek medical help.

Heart Disease Prevention

Sunday, December 13th, 2009

Since diabetes has always been associated with heart disease, doctors  suggest some heart disease preventions by first correcting the problem  on diabetes. Studies showed that most of the people who died because of  heart disease all have history of diabetes. This has pushed the experts  to first counter heart disease prevention by hitting on the the possible catalyst of this disease—it is diabetes.

A part f heart disease prevention is changing one’s lifestyle. Since it  would then be too hard to control some other factors of heart disease  like age, gender, and genetics, it won’t be too hard to correct one’s  lifestyle. This is often started by eating only the healthy and balanced food.

Another heart disease prevention is by controlling one’s weight. Becoming obese would bring the person so much exposure to acquire heart  disease. As suggested by the American Heart Association, people should be  conscious on the nutrient level of food taken in. The association pushed  for a balanced diet like taking in fruits, vegetables, and whole  grains. By eating healthily, a person may lose all the risky factors that may trigger heart disease.

But it is observed that one may be very successful with their heart  disease prevention techniques if they strictly apply a comprehensive  prevention program such as mixing both diet, weight loss, and maintaining a good level of blood sugar. People are even advised to take in dietary supplements which are believed to be a helpful factor in the whole heart disease prevention program. Dietary supplements are recommended by experts since they contain antioxidants as well as folic acid and vitamin B.

Experts suggest that people undergoing some heart disease prevention must take in Mangosteen puree since this has been found to have lots of  antioxidants. Unlike mango and other fruit puree, mangosteen is very much rich in Vitamin B and folic acid. These elements are responsible in keeping the homocysteine low. Experiencing a rise on homocysteine would definitely result to an arteriosclerotic disease.

One of the best ways of keeping a tolerable blood pressure and LDL  cholesterol level is by adapting a new and healthier diet. This would only have to be followed strictly by the person involved and must be dealt with all discipline and patience.

One is then advised to take a mix of heart disease prevention techniques like keeping a good level of cholesterol and blood pressure, maintaining a healthy lifestyle, eating a balanced diet, and applying all these with all discipline.
